The Brooke Companies is currently seeking an experienced and professional Receptionist/Administrative Assistant to work for a shipping company located in Metairie.

-The salary for this position will be $28,000.

-The company offers 100% medical coverage for employee, 401K and PTO.

-Typical hours will be 8:00am-5:00pm with overtime required as needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • answering the phone

  • sign for packages

  • record bank deposit and bring to the bank

  • prepare invoices for vendors

  • distribute mail

  • create new files and labels

  • order maps, shirts, and jackets

  • help with cargo docs

  • data entry

  • document control

  • sending and responding to emails

  • faxing

  • scanning

  • creating bills of lading

 

Requirements:

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills (will be tested)

  • 5+ years of administrative/office support experience in a professional office setting

  • Experience in the shipping or import/export industry is a plus.

  • Qualities needed to perform the job successfully: proactive, able to work well in a fast-paced environment, intelligent, a quick learner, extremely detail oriented, and able to handle a large work load
